Lake Mburo

Lake Mburo is the centerpiece of Lake Mburo National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. The park is one of Uganda’s smallest, covering about 370 square kilometers, but it boasts an impressive diversity of wildlife. The lake itself is part of a larger wetland system, with five other lakes connected by swamps, creating a unique ecosystem in the area.

Lake Mburo National Park is well-known for its rich wildlife, including zebras, impalas, hippos, buffaloes, and over 300 species of birds. Unlike many other Ugandan parks, this one lacks elephants, which makes it ideal for activities like walking safaris. Visitors can also enjoy boat rides on Lake Mburo, where they can spot hippos and crocodiles, or embark on game drives to see the wildlife in action. The park’s scenic landscapes, rolling hills, and acacia woodlands offer a tranquil and less crowded safari experience.
