Day 1: Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park
Your guide/driver will pick you up from Entebbe or Kampala and then transfer to Lake Mburo national park about 4-hour drive. Enjoy a stopover for photo shoots at the Equator monument along the way to the park. Arrive and check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight. Optional night game drives to search for leopard among other nocturnal animals.
Lake Mburo is Uganda’s smallest savanna park with rich biodiversity including 310 bird species and 68 mammal species. It is the only park along the western Uganda wildlife circuit where you can see giraffes, common zebras, and impalas in a single place. Among other key species include the shoebill stork, African fin foot, and papyrus gonolek. The park supports a variety of antelope species such as topi, eland, klipspringer, bushbucks, waterbucks, and Uganda kobs. No elephants and lion in the park.Day 2: Lake Mburo to Queen Elizabeth National Park
It’s time for a walking safari, a perfect way to explore the African bush on foot in the morning between 7-9am in the morning. Watch giraffes, zebras, impalas, topi, and elands, up close before returning for breakfast at the lodge. Thereafter, depart Lake Mburo and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, in the shadow of Rwenzori Mountains. Arrive and check in at the lodge on the edge of the rift valley escarpment for dinner and overnight stay.
Consisting of both swamped areas, savanna plains, tropical forests, and the centerpiece Kazinga channel, which connects Lakes Edward and George, Queen Elizabeth is one of the most beautiful and varied Uganda national parks found on the floor of the western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley in the shadow of the Snow capped Rwenzori Mountains. The park has incredible scenery and is home to huge concentrations of wildlife including the Big four mammals which include tree climbing lions, leopards, buffaloes, and elephants. There are over 600 species of birds as well as hippos and Nile crocodiles and chimpanzees.
Day 3: Game drive and Kazinga channel boat cruise
Enjoy a game drive starting at 6:30am in the morning up to noon. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before going to the Kazinga channel for boat cruise safari as the elephants and buffaloes come to the banks to drink water. The Kazinga channel has got its own Big Five check list which includes African fish eagle, Nile crocodile, elephant, buffalo and hippo. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
This morning, you will take an early morning game drive followed by breakfast. Then head south west via Ishasha wilderness to search for tree climbing lions to Bwindi impenetrable national park. The 332 sq.km area of ancient afromontane tropical forest has a rich biodiversity including 120 mammals and over 320 birds of which 24 are Albertine rift endemics. But Bwindi’s number one attraction is the mountain gorilla, with 459 gorillas which is almost half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. Check in at the lodge on the edge of the forest for dinner and overnight with sights and sounds of nature.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
You will report at the park visitor center at 7:30 am for briefing on gorilla rules after which you are accompanied by trackers into the forest to search for gorillas. Once they’re found, you’re allowed to observe the gentle giants for one. Return to the center for your tracking certificate and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The bilharzias free lake of 19 islands is a perfect place to relax after your gorilla trek. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at the lodge on the shores.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, you will take a canoe ride or boat cruise to explore the Punishment Island and spot some of the bird species like the grey crowned crane. Thereafter, depart from Lake Bunyonyi and transfer to Entebbe and departure. End of tour.
