Explore 3 different Ugandan protected areas on this 7 days Uganda safari to Kibale forest, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi impenetrable forest national parks. In Kibale national park, you will track the chimpanzees and enjoy a nature walk in the Bigodi community wetland to search for 8 primate species. Queen Elizabeth national park offers game drives and boat cruise on Kazinga channel. Search for tree climbing lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, hippos, Nile crocodiles and over 600 species of birds that roam the protected area. The gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park will be the icing on the cake.

This trip can start in Kampala city or Entebbe town in Uganda or in Kigali capital city Rwanda. The routing from Kampala takes you to Kibale, Queen Elizabeth and ends in Bwindi. When based in Kigali, you will start in Bwindi to Kibale forest. You’ll be traveling in a safari vehicle with pop up roof for road transfers and game drives.

Day 1: Kampala to Kibale Forest

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala city or Entebbe and transfer through Mubende town to Kibale national park. Arrive and check in the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Kibale forest harbors rich biodiversity of 13 primate species including over 1,400 chimpanzees, which you’ll track. The rest of the primates can be spotted the nearby Bigodi wetlands, which you will also visit.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Have breakfast early morning and at 7:30 am transfer to Kanyanchu park headquarters for briefing on chimpanzee tracking. After that, embark on the hike in search of chimpanzees which you will spend with 1 hour once they’re located. Chimps are active and you expect to encounter them both on ground and in tree canopies. Return to center to get your chimpanzee tracking certificate and settle for lunch at the lodge. Later in the afternoon go for a nature walk in Bigodi wetland home to 8 primate species, over 200 species of birds, and a variety of local plants. The nature walk lasts for 1-3 hours and rewards you with sightings of black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, and the great blue turaco. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Leave Kibale in the morning and drive straight to the Kazinga channel for the boat cruise at 2:00pm. Along the way take in splendid views of the crater filled lakes. The Kazinga channel boat cruise safari offers an opportunity to view elephants, buffaloes, hippos, Nile crocodiles, and the African fish eagle, which are the channel’s localized Big Five. Take part in the evening game drive as you make your way to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi

Embark on an early morning game drive starting at 6:30 am after a cup of African tea. Explore the Kasenyi plains for a chance to spot the park’s predators including lions, leopards, and hyenas. Upon return at 9 am, you will enjoy breakfast and depart for Bwindi. Your guide will drive slowly through the Ishasha wilderness hoping to see the tree climbing lions and other species like topi and African forest buffalo that aren’t found in the Kasenyi plains. Continue to Bwindi, staying in Ruhija or Buhoma sector depending on where gorilla permit was booked for. Diner and overnight in Bwindi forest, a UNESCO world heritage famous for harboring 459 of 1,603 gorillas which is almost half of the world’s mountain gorilla population.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Village Walk

After breakfast, you will head to the gorilla center at 7:30 to attend briefing on gorilla rules by the park warden. Ensure that you packed lunch and drinking water given that the time it takes to locate gorillas can range from 1-5 hours. At 8am, you will be accompanied by armed rangers and trackers into the Bwindi forest in search of gorillas. Spend 1 hour in their presence once they’re located and return to the center, where the park warden will award you with a gorilla trekking certificate. Settle for lunch at the lodge and relax. In the late afternoon, go for a village walk to observe the local culture and way of life in rural Uganda. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight. The lodge will organize a campfire featuring traditional story telling by the local troupe.

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Depart from Bwindi after breakfast in the morning which is about 1-2 hour drive. Arrive at Lake Bunyonyi and check in the lodge. Sit back and relax or take a canoe ride or boat cruise on the lake to explore the beautiful islands. You can go a village walk on the island to learn about the life on the island and around Africa’s deepest lake, dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Departure

After a relaxed breakfast, you will transfer to Entebbe or Kigali city depending on your departure schedule. End of tour.
